Restaurant Reviews for Meisa Cafe

"They recently expanded their menu and their hours, and continue to be great. I work in the area and go there at least once a week. The Bosnian dishes are great. They start you with complimentary, warm home-made bread. All but one entree is under $10, but you never leave hungry. The cevapi and burek (Bosnian dishes) are great. Of the new dishes, I've tried the wiener schnitzel and the palacinke (crepes), and they are quite good. If you only want coffee, you can get a 20oz cup for $1.25 WITH a pastry. Or a double espresso for $2 WITH a pastry. The coffee is every bit as good as Starbucks or Dunkin. The owner, Alma, is extremely nice and cares about quality food. Her waitstaff is also very friendly."
"One of the best restaurant in the Portage Park neighborhood. I definitely recommend it. The cabbage rolls are to die for. This is one of the few restaurants in the area that I can honestly say I would drive out of the way to if I did not live close. I did not have any complaints (surprisingly)."
"Friendly service and excellent food - probably one of the best "ethnic" restaurants in the City. The food is homemade and it DOES taste homemade. It is labeled "Bosnian" but any Eastern European is going to feel there at home. Warning: once you start eating, it's hard to stop - the food is so delicious!"
